Case Study - ActivPath
Brief - Design and produce a set of engaging, themed floor graphics aimed at encouraging physical activity among children within schools. The graphics should be fun, easy to use, and visually appealing to children aged 4-11. These graphics will be strategically placed in underutilised spaces, turning them into interactive areas for children.
Research
Programmes in North America found that encouraging regular movement and activity in young children can help improve their step count by roughly 1000 steps per day. Using available space in schools to promote a fun way to get moving can help reduce child obesity and aid healthy growth.
The UK Government advises that children aged 5-18 should be active for at least 60 minutes per day.

Intent
Each set of themed graphics should be designed to engage and motivate children, encouraging active participation. The range should smoothly integrate
educational elements with physical play, aligning with and supporting children’s Physical Literacy programs.
Proposal
Whilst working with the team at Visual Group we created a range of four floor graphic sets that are inspired by very distinct themes. Each set has its path to follow that features animals, winding paths, action stations, alphabet jumps, and countdowns. The themes are colourful, dynamic and stimulating, making children become active and involved. However, a controlled manner can be kept, maintaining safety during play time in their school.

Application
Each graphic is printed on R9 self-adhesive vinyl, utilising digital printing to deliver vibrant, high-quality results. To ensure safety, all graphics are coated with an anti-slip laminate, reducing the risk of accidents. These 'paths' have been successfully installed in numerous schools and hospitals across South Yorkshire, consistently receiving excellent feedback.
